Our Swan Valley Tour
One of the highlights of our trip to be honest was the day we spent in the Swan Valley. It was so great having a private bus just for us as we were able to go to the places we wanted to go and allowed us to change plans on the fly which was fantastic. This allowed us to truly explore the Swan Valley.
To be honest I was really surprised at the variety of things we could do in the Swan Valley as it has a bit of everything, things for both Adults and Kids so its really a good day out for the whole family.
Let me highlight the tour we took around the Swan Valley and the places we visited.
We were picked us up from the Hyatt at 9am and 30 minutes later we we at the Swan Valley. We started off our journey at Houghton Winery, one of the oldest wineries in the Swan Valley. It has been producing wine for over 175 years. They had a nice grassed area for the kids to play which was good while us Adults sampled the wines. They also had an Art Gallery which was pretty cool also.
Our next stop was the Whistler chocolate company which the kids loved and next door was Taylors Art and Coffee house. The next winery to visit was Oakover winery which had beautiful lawns and a lake in the middle which was quite peaceful. After Oakover we made our way down to olive farm wines and the cheese barrel. I love cheese so this was the perfect stop for me. Although it was a little pricey the taste of some of those cheeses was amazing and I can highly recommend it.The location was pretty cool also as the back deck overlooks the bush and creek. After the cheese barrel we took a bit of a detour to check out Bells Rapids which was good for a bit of different scenery and a change of pace. By this stage we were ready for lunch so we ventured to the Feral Brewery which was nice.
After lunch we decided to do something for the Kids so we went to the Cuddly Animal Farm. The kids had an absolute blast as they got to interact with and feed all the farm animals. After the animal farm we stopped at the Swan Valley Oasis which was quite busy. This place had a supa golf course which is like oversize golf where the golf ball is 10 x the size of a normal golf ball and the clubs are also oversize. It was really fun and the kids loved it also. There was also a mini golf course and laser corps (paintball but with lasers). Also on site was the Mash Brewery where we enjoyed a few nice cold beers after our game. Our last stop for the day was the Margaret River chocolate factory. I couldn't believe how busy this place was and the amount of chocolate that these guys have on offer was amazing. They had these free sampling bowls set up as you walk in the door where you can take handfuls of their white, dairy milk and dark chocolates. The kids and I couldn't stop going back for more. We couldn't resist buying some of the chocolates they had on offer. By this stage we were all ready to head back to our city hotel for a well-deserved rest.
All in all we had such a great time on our Swan Valley tour, it was such a special day.
